Portfolio Web Site

For my most recent portfolio web site (this one), I decided to totally restructure it and start again. It was said by some tutors that the previous version was not of an appropriate structure as it was based around a blog format. I have now changed the layout of each section so it is much clearer and obvious what each section is.

I have kept the look of the web site clean and simple, opting for a mostly black and white appearance with hints of colours when you interact with links and flash elements. This creates a modern and stylish feel throughout with a hint of classic design by the use of a serif font.

We were asked to produce two different web sites, one for all our work and one to showcase our best work. I built my showcase web site using Flash, therefore decided to embed it within a section of my main web site as it was only one page and avoids the confusion of having two web sites.

Degree Show Contribution

Here is a list of what I have contributed to the degree show:

  • HTML/JavaScript version of holding page for web site including an e-mail subscription form
  • HTML/JavaScript version of final web site
  • Database creation for storage of people's profiles
  • Helped Matt with forms for people to submit and edit profile information
  • Domain purchase and set up
  • Organized lights from Robin from last year:
    • 150 mile round trip to pick up and the same again to take back.
    • Set up of lights
  • Attended every meeting
  • Supported fundraising events such as cake sale and pool/quiz night
