Proposal

I propose to make a MySpace type web site for web professionals. It will include a members list, user profiles, search, image uploads and a skill cloud.

Research

I looked at other social networking web sites to determine a feature set that I could implement on my web site.

Planning

First, sketches were created of initial ideas. The web site was then developed using white pages to make it easier to fix errors when they occurred. This was then merged with the final web site design.

Final Piece

The web site I created can be found at:

The proposal is available as a PDF in the sidebar on the right.

Review

This was an interesting project for me, even though I had already done quite a bit of PHP coding before. It gave me the chance to practice my skills and improve them where I could. The final piece looks attractive and has some unique features like the skill cloud on the home page. There are several improvements that could be made to the web site. Details of these can be found in the documentation which is linked to above.
